The Hand of Thrawn Duology is a two-book series set in the Star Wars universe, written by Timothy Zahn. The first book, Specter of the Past, takes place ten years after the events of Return of the Jedi, as the New Republic faces a crisis when an unknown enemy threatens peace and stability. Meanwhile, a mysterious figure known as the Hand of Thrawn emerges, claiming to be the long-dead Imperial Grand Admiral Thrawn and demanding negotiations with the New Republic. The second book, Vision of the Future, follows the aftermath of the events in Specter of the Past, as the New Republic continues to navigate the political and military challenges posed by the Hand of Thrawn and other threats. The series features familiar characters from the original Star Wars trilogy, as well as new characters and political intrigue.
